Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 3, 2026
Verbum (“we”, “us”) is a Bible reading app for Apple devices. This policy explains what information is involved when you use Verbum and how privacy is protected. We designed Verbum to minimize data collection: there are no Verbum-operated advertising, analytics, or tracking servers.
1. Summary
Bible text is stored on your device. Study features that use Apple Intelligence process prompts on your device. Notes and highlights sync only through your personal iCloud account via Apple CloudKit. Optional purchases are handled by Apple. We do not sell your data.
2. Information on your device
Verbum stores Bible translations, reading preferences, liturgical calendar data, and related app settings locally on your device using Apple frameworks such as SwiftData and UserDefaults. This information does not leave your device except as described below for iCloud sync or Apple services you choose to use.
3. Notes, highlights, and iCloud
If iCloud is enabled for Verbum, your annotations (such as notes and highlights) sync through Apple CloudKit into your private iCloud database. That data is associated with your Apple ID and governed by Apple’s privacy practices. Verbum developers cannot read the contents of your private CloudKit database. If CloudKit is unavailable, annotations remain in a local store on your device.
4. On-device intelligence
Context Lens / Study AI may use Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models) and local reference data (such as lexicons) on supported devices. Prompts and results for these features are processed on device and are not sent to Verbum servers. When Apple Intelligence is unavailable, Verbum may use an on-device rule-based fallback. Verbum does not operate a separate cloud AI backend for scripture study.
5. Purchases and App Store
Optional tips or support purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. Apple provides receipts and manages billing. Verbum receives purchase entitlements necessary to acknowledge support in the app; payment card details are handled by Apple, not by Verbum.
6. No Verbum tracking servers
Verbum does not run advertising networks, third-party analytics SDKs, or Verbum-operated telemetry backends that profile your reading habits. The product architecture is intentionally offline-first with zero monthly server overhead for core scripture delivery.
7. Children
Verbum is a general-audience scripture app. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through Verbum-operated services, because we do not operate such collection endpoints.
8. Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Verbum after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
